The Manhattan jury reached a verdict in the high-profile case on the 30th of May 2024, when they ruled Donald Trump guilty on the 34 counts of falsified business records in his hush money trial.

Unfortunately, this is the first time that the republican nominee has been convicted of a crime, and his sentencing date has been scheduled for the 11th of July.

While speaking to cameras and reporters, after walking out of the courtroom, the former American president called the trial a “disgrace” and “corrupt.” He also repeatedly claimed that the trial was all a setup.

Quoting his exact words, he said, “We didn’t do a thing wrong,” he said. “I’m a very innocent man. … Our whole country is being rigged by now.” He said, “We’ll keep fighting, we’ll fight till the end, and we’ll win.”

He also accused the judge, Juan Merchan, of being conflicted. “This was a rigged decision right from day one with a conflicted judge who should have never been allowed to try this case,” Trump said.

However, multiple outlets and news organizations have reported that Trump is unlikely to face jail time.

Trump’s alleged advances to former adult film star.

During the latest hearing, the 12 jurors unanimously agreed that Trump had fabricated business records to cover up a payment of $130,000 to former adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. Throughout the trial, Trump pleaded not guilty and denied having an affair with Stormy.

While taking the stand earlier this month, the former adult film star described a sexual encounter with Trump in 2006. She sustained the fact that she accepted Trump’s sexual advances on her; she, therefore, expressed her discomfort towards the alleged action.

She stated, “There was an imbalance of power, but I was not threatened verbally or physically.”

As expected, Trump’s defense attorney, Susan Necheles, challenged Stormy’s testimony and questioned the validity of her story. Going further into interrogating her experience in the adult film industry, Necheles said, “You have a lot of experience making phony stories about sex.”

Daniels retorted saying, “That’s not how I would put it, the sex in the films is very much real, just like what happened to me in that room. … If that story were untrue, I would’ve written it to be a lot better.”
